subject indexing tips and tools

Venue: Manchester Computing, University of Manchester
Registration will begin at 10.00. Sessions will start 10.30, and finish at
16.30.
This practical workshop is aimed at archivists, and will provide delegates
with guidance on how to approach the difficult task of subject indexing.
They will be introduced to the UNESCO thesaurus, and will have an in-depth
session on Library of Congress Subject Headings.

Amanda runs the Archives Hub service which makes use of both UNESCO and
Library of Congress subject terms
· Andrew MacEwan, Authority Control Co-ordinator, British Library
Andrew has previous experience as the project manager for the LCSH
reinstatement project at BL, a cataloguer on the BLC conversion project, and
selection, acquisitions and cataloguing at the Document Supply Centre.
