The SoA training programme for September 2002 includes the following four
events:
- EAD Training Workshop
Edinburgh - 2 September
This workshop will provide a hands-on introduction to EAD as the
SGML(Standard Generalized Mark-up Language)DTD( Document Type Definition)for
archival finding aids and to assist repositories in deciding whether EAD is
appropriate to their needs
- Seminar for Diploma Students
London - 4 September
This event is the annual training event specifically aimed at the SoA
Diploma in Archive Administration students. Topics to be covered include
Data Protection and Freedom of Information, E-Records, and Strategic
Conservation
- Communicating with your Organisation
London - 19 September
This course is suitable for anyone working in the field of Records
Management.
Aims of the event
-To explore ways of raising the profile of records management within the
organisation
-To look at ways of presenting your records management message to improve
the likelihood of its acceptance and implementation
-To improve communication with colleagues on all levels
- On a different Subject (subject indexing)
Manchester - 12 September
This practical workshop is aimed at archivists and will provide delegates
with guidance on how the approach the difficult task of subject indexing.
They will be introduced to the UNESCO thesaurus and will have an in-depth
session on Library of Congress Subject Headings
