This is a query on retention scheduling of council tax and housing benefit
papers. Someone in our legal department told Revenues that these records
should be retained for 20 years. I think this is quite unreasonable, and
that the current financial year plus six years is sufficient. I'm
interested to find out what other local authorities are doing, before I ask
for a risk assessment to be carried out.
