Apologies for cross posting.
The National Library of Scotland has reached a milestone with the online
publication of over 850 inventories of its manuscript and archival
collections. The new Guide to Manuscript Collections is available via
our website at:
http://www.nls.uk/catalogues/online/cnmi/index.html
As the inventories were previously only available as typescript finding
aids in the Library, this new online provision is a major advance in
facilitating access to the Library’s manuscript collections for remote
users.
More inventories will be added as work on them is completed, as will
over 50 subject guides to the collections. Retro-conversion of the
Library’s 30,000 volumes of catalogued manuscripts remains a priority.
The National Library of Scotland’s manuscript collections are a major
resource for the history and culture of Scotland. Its wide-ranging
holdings cover many aspects of the lives, activities and interests of
Scots at home and abroad from the Middle Ages to the present day.
