The following job opportunities at the Worcestershire Record Office will be
advertised in the forthcoming ARC recruitment supplement.
ARCHIVIST (Acquisition and Processing)
TWO POSTS (18-MONTH CONTRACT)
Scale 5-6 (subject to progression criteria)
(Job Evaluation pending) £15,741- £19,014
The Worcestershire Record Office, as part of its Best Value programme, is
carrying out a review of its archival holdings, including its cataloguing
backlog. It therefore seeks to appoint two professionally qualified
archivists for a period of 18 months to undertake this review.
This project offers an opportunity to play an important part in implementing
the Office's policies on acquisition and storage.
You will work as part of a small team under the day-to-day management of a
Head of Repository, and may need from time to time to work at a Record
Office out-store.
The main responsibilities of these posts will be the review and selection of
archives, so an understanding of the broad principles affecting the
acquisition and selection of documents for permanent preservation will be
essential, and any practical experience will be advantageous. You will need
to be self-motivated and show evidence of the ability to plan and complete
projects. Good communication skills and practical common sense are also
essential.
