We will be running an Archives Hub Contributors' Training Day on Thursday
18th July in Manchester. This event will be useful for you if you work in a
higher or further education institution in the United Kingdom and are
interested in submitting collection-level descriptions of your archives to
the Archives Hub service. 48 institutions are already taking part in the
service and by June 2003 we will have over 20,000 collections in the
database. The Hub is available at http://www.archiveshub.ac.uk. Further
information about the process of submitting records is available there in
the 'Data Creation' pages.
The training day will run from 10.30-4pm in the Small Training Room at
Manchester Computing in the University of Manchester and will cover the
following topics:
Introduction to the Archives Hub
Introduction to Encoded Archival Description
Using the online template to generate collection-level records
Subject indexing
Hands on experience of creating records using the template
There is no charge for attending the course and lunch will be provided.
