The North West Regional Archive Council and its partners are planning an
audit of uncatalogued archival collections in the 40 main repositories in
the region. The project will identify, quantify and prioritise uncatalogued
archival collections in the region, providing information for each
repository and for the first time, on a regional level. The project will
also provide an indication of the timescale and resources needed for the
cataloguing these collections.
I would be interested in hearing from colleagues who have undertaken large
scale surveys of uncatalogued collections. In particular I would be
interested in how different archive repositories have calculated the amount
of time it would take to catalogue archival collections. Does anyone have a
handy formula ?
