We have a vacancy for an Archivist to assist in managing and developing the
Archives service, particularly with regard to the acquisition and
cataloguing of records, records management and user services.
Tyne & Wear Archives Service is one of the largest local authority archives
in the country, serving the five metropolitan districts of Gateshead (the
lead authority), Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and
Sunderland. We have a staff of 20 offering a full range of archives,
conservation and records management services, and play a leading role in
regional activities.
You will be a qualified (ideally registered) archivist, enthusiastic, well
organised and self-motivated, preferably with experience in local
government, and committed to providing a quality public service.
