Subject: ERPANET Workshop (Under EC's IST Programme)
TOLEDO, SPAIN: 23rd -25th June 2002
Digitisation, Conservation, and Preservation Workshop
ERPANET, a European Commission funded project, is pleased to announce
its first workshop. This event offers experts the opportunity to take
part in an investigation of key topics in digital preservation.
Participants will examine the interplay of digitisation, conservation,
and preservation. As a result of two and a half days of presentations
and discussion, we will produce policy, organisational and technical
guidelines, and recommendations. These will enable practitioners,
their institutions, and funding agencies to improve conservation and
preservation practice. The event is co-hosted by ERPANET, Caja
Castilla La Mancha, and Biblioteca Nacional. Workshop Focus ·
Conservation · Digitisation · Preservation · Benchmarking ·
Migration Format Each of the sessions will address one of the
workshopppED¶66ED³‡í³Â°Â™s main themes and begin with an
introduction by an expert. Participants will then divide into
sub-groups to examine the issue, to identify key challenges, and to
recommend improvements in practices and guidelines. After a brief
report back from the workgroups, each session will conclude with a
discussion aimed at producing practical guidelines. These will then be
disseminated in a white paper.
