I posted a message a while back referring to the recent successful
'drop-in' replacement for Dorset Archives Service's Halon fire suppression
system. In the message I mentioned that I hoped to publish an article
about this particular programme of work and systems used. This short
article is complete and is being considered for some form of publication (I
understand that it is probably a little too long for the Society of
Archivists' newsletter), possibly via the Society's web site if the
newsletter is not feasible.
I am concious however that time is not on our side if people would find
such information useful, since they must get their systems replaced during
the coming 18 months. There has been quite a lot of interest expressed in
my last message and it seems to be helpful if people have something on the
advantages and disadvantages of the currently available (generic)
alternatives. I have a separate paper on the pros and cons available for
anyone who would like to receive it. It can be sent by email as an RTF
file. If you would like a copy of this, please email me and let me know.
In either case, something should be within reach soon!
