Genesis - developing access to women's history sources in
the British Isles.
Dissemination event to promote and celebrate the launch of
Genesis at The Women's Library, Old Castle Street, London,
E1 7NT. Thursday 27 June 2002, 3pm-7pm.
Genesis is a mapping initiative, funded by the Research
Support Libraries Programme (RSLP) to identify and develop
access to women's history sources in the British Isles.
Access to information is through:
A web accessible database of collection descriptions from
archives, libraries and museums around the British Isles.
The Guide to Sources - a comprehensive list of national and
international web sites relating to women's history sources.
46 institutions and organisations are submitting
over 2000 collection descriptions to the database which
will be made available to the public via the Genesis web
site. These collections deal with all aspects of women's
lives and cover a wide subject area including campaigning
women, education, employment, family life, arts, health and
politics.
