Towards the end of last year the archives-nra listowners were
approached by some of the Society's officers wanting to discuss
the issue of advertising job vacancies via the list. Their concern
was that the list could be used to advertise posts with a salary
below the Society's recommended minimum. At that time we were
informed that although the Society recommends that the minimum
salary paid to a newly qualified archivist should be the equivalent of
the Local Government APT&C scale 6, their policy is to accept
adverts with salaries that are the equivalent of scale 5. The
Society does not accept job adverts for qualified professional posts
where the salary is scale 4 or less. Although I don't have the local
government salary scales to hand I would imagine that the salary
for the post to which you refer meets the above criteria ie that it is
the equivalent of local government scale 5.
