The following advertisement will also be appearing in The Guardian on
Tuesday 7th May. Please pass on details to anyone you know who may be
interested in applying.
Graduate Trainee Archives Assistant
One year fixed term appointment: 27 August 2002 - 31 August 2003
£12,993-£13,308 a year (pay award pending) inclusive of London Allowance.
If you're a recently qualified graduate planning to pursue a course in
Archives and Records Management, this is your chance to experience a year
within Royal Holloway's Archive Service.
You will assist with a variety of tasks and projects, including support for
the Bedford Centre for the History of Women. Working within a research-led
environment, you'll receive first rate training and the opportunity to
contribute to our service while you develop your skills.
Things are equally appealing on the non-academic side. The University's
location close to London and Heathrow means you can enjoy a country
atmosphere without missing out on the capital's social attractions. On site
meanwhile, there's a newly enlarged student union offering clubs, societies
and bars. Last but not least there's the spectacular sight of Founder's
Hall, a grade 1 listed explosion of turrets and chimneys, which forms the
centrepiece of the campus.
For the Archives Assistant post (Ref: KB/1594), you will need good
communication and organisational skills, a positive approach, and an
interest in historical documents.
