Assistant Conservator
£15,749 - £17,206 per annum
To share in the wide variety of work carried out by the conservation
unit,including conservation and repair of
paper,parchment,maps,architectural
drawings,seals,etc.,binding,preventive rehousing and photography. The
post will include work on a grant-funded project to repair and conserve
an important series of 15th to 17th century records, involving paper and
parchment repair.
The Assistant Conservator should be self-motivated,enthusiastic and
willing to work as part of a small team under the supervision of the
senior conservator.Staff are ecouraged to take advantage of
opportunities for further training,and the postholder will be expected
to keep abreast of new techniques and developments.
The post is a fixed-term appointment for one year running up to 31 July
2003 in the first instance with the possibility of a one year
extension.It offers opportunities both for experienced conservators and
for newly qualified conservators wishing to extend their range of skills
(applications are welcomed from students who will qualify this year).
