accommodate the Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Human Rights Act
we are changing the way we work. Soon, access to records and information
will be freer than ever - and that's where you come in.
POLICY OFFICER (INFORMATION)
Scale PO1/2: £22,971 - £27,717 (job evaluation pending)
This is a superb opportunity to lead and develop the County Council's
response to access to information. You will create and implement its 'access
to information' policy, co-ordinating activity both internally and
externally, and ensure the Council meets its legal obligations. You will
advise and support the Chief Executive in his role as the Council's Data
Controller and prepare guidance for the Chief Officers' Management Board.
Advising on the implications of the Data Protection and Freedom of
Information acts at all levels you will educate all council members and
staff on their relevance and application to the authority's functions. It's
a chance to work at a senior level with an authority that is eager to
embrace new challenges - you can really make a difference.
As well as a post-graduate qualification from a discipline represented in
Local Government you'll have then pursued a specialism in strategic
management and be experienced in working at a senior level with managerial
skills and supervisory responsibility. You'll also have a good understanding
of the information systems needs (manual and electronic) of a large
organisation and have an understanding of the implications of the relevant
legislation. A self-motivated, results driven individual, you'll be a clear
and confident communicator with a good working knowledge of computers.
RECORDS MANAGER (IT/IS)
Scale SO1: £19,770- £21,078 (job evaluation pending)
In this important role you will play a crucial and ground-breaking part in
the development and implementation of our electronic document and record
systems. You will ensure all newly-created records are electronically stored
and retrieved, help advise on appropriate systems and hardware and ensure
the long-term security and accessibility of electronic data. You'll work
closely with the Information and Business Systems service to develop new
policies and procedures and you'll be looked to to lead in this area by
sharing your knowledge and expertise throughout the Authority. Combine
technical awareness with excellent communication skills and you'll really
get our new systems up and running.
Educated to degree level, you'll have a post-graduate qualification in
records management, archive administration, information management,
information technology or similar fields, As well as two years' experience
of modern records, IT or archives work you'll have good analytical skills
and an understanding of e-data storage. Show us a good understanding of
information and electronic records management principles and their
application in practice and you can make a significant contribution here.
