A researcher has asked me for the records of Kelly & Walsh, publishers,
and I offered to post a request to the list asking if anyone knew whether
an archive survived for this company.
Kelly & Walsh were based in Shanghai and published English language books
about China - travel, novels, etc. According to the researcher, they were
the largest and most established publishers of their type in China with a
fully formed distribution network in England. They stopped publishing
because of the upheavals in China during the 1920s but the exact date is
unknown.
It is not known either what happened to the company but the researcher
thinks it logical that it came to England, along with its archive, but this
is only surmise based on the company's ties with England.
Please, can anyone help? The researcher's address is <[log in to unmask]>
although this seems such a long shot to me I should be interested to know
the answer and would ask you to copy me in on your reply.
Thank you all very much.
