Steve,
Fret not. We are singing from the same songsheet (well preserved in an
environmentally controlled archive somewhere, of course) and I feel that
the strategic affiliation between commercial enterprise and archives is an
idea worth persuing. I posted a message earlier today 'How YOU are
perceived' and it responds to an opinion that you mentioned and that I come
across every day in my work; "archiving is boring" yet I believe that there
is expertise and creativity that is never appreciated or aknowledged. I
would say that archiving is misunderstood but there are people, such as
myself, who see beyond the stereotyped dress code and perceived timewarp
and understand the crucial role that archivists play in cultural
preservation.
All the best,
Matthew Goldschmied.
