love someone who will feed them a story, rather than just complaining.
And Richard S - you may live to regret revealing that you have a close
contact in Radio 4... That said, in the two pieces I have done for Radio 4
I have found both the presenters and the producers interested and willing
to be informed about archives.
However, work for television is another matter - many independent
production companies in particular are the spawn of the devil and need to
be handled at arms-length with no concessions made. Tip - you can always
tell them when they ring up, because they nearly always say that they are
"making a programme for Channel 4", implying that they actually *are* C4.
In some cases Channel 4 may never have heard of them...
