CONSULTATION ON PROPOSALS FOR NEW PROCEDURAL RULES FOR APPEALS AND HEARINGS
BEFORE THE INFORMATION TRIBUNAL
March 2002
The Information Tribunal was established under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000. It presently considers appeals under the Data Protection Act 1998
and the Telecommunications (Data Protection and Privacy) Regulations 1999.
Following implementation of the relevant legislation, it will also consider
appeals under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
The Lord Chancellor has the power to make rules for how the Information
Tribunal operates. We are consulting on what new rules should be put in
place.
A consultation document is available setting out our proposals.
