FACET project officer/archivist
Up to £21660 pro rata including London Weighting, according to experience.
Either a Six month contract full time, or a One year contract for 18 hours
per week is on offer.
Fusing Arts, Culture and Education through Technology (FACET) part of the
nationwide NOF digitise programme.
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea contains many nationally and
internationally famous places and events: Portobello street market, Kings
Road, Kensington Gardens and a wide variety of museums, shops, entertainment
and sports facilities. This diverse backdrop together with the people who
enrich the area, make up the themes for FACET; an exciting project charged
with making a digital collection of materials to form an archive and a
learning resource on the Internet.
FACET is also a partner in the wider Sense of Place, London consortium which
aims to create a digital gateway to collections across London by December
2002.
An enthusiastic Project Archivist is required to work alongside the
Knowledge Manager, selecting material from the Borough's holdings relating
to several key themes - Art in Science, Shopping, Neighbours, the
Environment - and preparing these for digitisation. He or she will also be
required to liaise with our partners, NOF and other collection holders.

· You have an empathy with arts, culture and education,
· You have the technical knowledge to understand what has to be done
· You enjoy writing
· You know how to catalogue and organise materials
· You have the energy to tackle all aspects of the project as
necessary
· You are interested in new technology
· You have an archival, museums or equivalent qualification
Familiarity with CALM and experience of delivering heritage interpretation
would be useful although not essential.
