ASSISTANT ARCHIVIST
The Archives and Record Office at News International plc is seeking to appoint an Assistant Archivist.
The department is responsible for managing the modern records of News International as well as its historical archive and the successful applicant will be expected to play a full role in both Records Management and Archive work.
The department houses the archive of all the titles published by the company although the main collections relate to The Times newspaper and date from the late 18th century to the present.
The main responsibility of the post is the administration of the company's Contracts Management System where accurate report writing and an ability to communicate with all levels of management is crucial.
The successful applicant will also be expected to undertake research projects, cataloguing work, modern records processing as well as answering enquiries and reading room supervision.
The department uses Basis and Calm 2000 software and the appointee should possess a reasonable level of computer literacy, however training will be given where necessary.
This is a permanent post and the salary offered is £21,000 pa plus a benefits package.
