Dear All,
Linley Sambourne House, 18 Stafford Terrace, Kensington, is currently the
focus of a major restoration project. Owned by three generations of the
Sambourne family between 1875 and 1980, including the eminent Punch
cartoonist, Edward Linley Sambourne, it is an intriguing example of a late
Victorian/Edwardian family home. The house will re-open to the public in
January 2003. Additionally, the family archive has been deposited at the
Central Library, Kensington, and is in the process of being catalogued.
We are keen to make both the house and the archive accessible to primary
school children but we understand that any education packs/visits/events
should tie in closely with current curriculum requirements. Are there
therefore any education officers within archives with the necessary
curriculum knowledge who could act as consultants?
We would also be immensely grateful to anyone prepared to send us copies of
any education packs or workbooks that they may have created.
Pamela Hunter
Archivist, Linley Sambourne House
