Dear all,
As some of you may be aware, back in April 2002, the NCA hosted a
parliamentary event "Changing the Future of Our Past" which was attended
over 50 members of both Houses. To build on the success of that event the
NCA has introduced a series of parliamentary briefings to keep interested
members informed of issues affecting archives. We hope this will build us
better contacts that we can call upon for support in the future. The
briefings will be issued quarterly.
Topics covered in the first briefing include:
The Formation of the National Archives
New Archival Legislation
Resource's Archives Task Force
Joint Arrangements
Heritage Lottery Fund - Making a Difference
Access to Archives A2A
Review of the Civil Registration Scheme
Opinion Piece - Archives as Commodities
Making Connections - Birmingham's Black International History
Hidden Treasures -Moving Image and Sound Archives
Inspring Learning - Pilot work from Somerset Archive and Record Service
I attach a copy of the briefing in word format for your information.
I would be pleased to receive comments on the briefing by email
