A colleague here seeks information about "Bryan curves", discussed in
some public records material published in 1926. These are used in
combination with distributions called "Pearson curves" in the same
document, but clearly simple Beta distributions. The material was
originally prepared for an official attached to London University, so it
is possible that K. or E.S. Pearson contributed to it.
The context is of normalising examination marks across different
subjects and different examination marks, for civil service
examinations.
Does anyone have a reference to Bryan curves?
Thanks,
David.
