Lecturer in Medical Statistics and Research Methodology
This is a full time post in a large, friendly and innovative Department of General Practice & Primary Care. The Department is based on the Mile End site of Queen Mary, University of London, and is engaged in medical research and undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. This post involves developing, encouraging and supporting research through the East London and Essex Network of Researchers (ELENoR), for 3.5 days and in the Department for the remainder of the time. The post would suit a statistician with an interest in research design and building research capacity. You will be expected to initiate development, to encourage and support research and to play a full part in individual research projects.
You will possess an undergraduate or higher degree in statistics, some experience of medical research and statistical advisory work and a good knowledge of the use of common statistical software in analysis of data. You will need to be able to write reports and papers, to assist in the design of major research proposals and to develop teaching materials. Flexibility in work undertaken and the ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team are essential.
