Dear all,
Our study is concerned with various aspects of stroke patients' ability to
stand for a period of time/sit - stand times and ability to reach for
objects. We have repeated each test 3 times on each patient straight after
each other.
Our question is 'are the results of the test consistent over the 3 attempts'
if so it may be reasonable to just take one measurement or use the average
of the 3. What is the best statistical method to analyse this data? I have
been advised against the ICC and colleagues have suggested looking at the
'within person SD' or root mean square error.
Another important aspect which I am not sure how to deal with is the
'practice effect' for example do the patients get better with practice at
the test or do they get worse due to tiredness?
Does anyone have any opinions on the best method or could you advise of
references?
Many thanks in advance
Vicki Ashton
