Dear John,
Re: > Can anybody please advise me:
1. Additions/deletions from this list
Possible addition:
Please feel free to add my software to the
list if you wish. It is Biostat software. Information can be found at
http://www.biostatsoftware.com
2. Has this been done before?
There are articles in the American Statistician that compare software and/or
report on Statistical Computing Software Reviews e.g., in Volume 56(2) May
2002, in Volume 56(1) Feb 2002 and Vol 55(3), Aug 2001. In the August 2001
volume a comparison is made for regression models with missing variables.
This includes comparing SAS, SOLAS, S+, Multiple Imputation by Chained
Equations (MICE) - which is for S+ and R. The authors also mention the use
of SPSS, LISREL and others.
I think it is an extremely difficult task to compare such software. I have
used many of those on your list and others not on your list e.g., BMDP,
NCSS, KWIKSTAT .... Most comparison reviews I have seen are not general (I
don't see how they can be) but specific about the handling of certain
problems.
I would be interested in seeing your evaluation.
Best wishes, Paul.
