Aims & Objectives
There are many types of study design of relevance to medical
research – these include establishing normal reference ranges,
comparison of diagnostic methods, examination of prognostic
factors, clinical trials and epidemiological studies. Examples from
each of these areas will be used to illustrate the key items to
consider for the design of the corresponding studies. Particular
focus will be on determining an appropriate study size as well as
carefully describing study methodology and aspects of the
reporting of results
