SENIOR STATISTICIAN
Salary £29,194 - £40,000 p.a. inc.
The Gynaecological Oncology Unit at St Bart's and the London School of
Medicine and Dentistry has an established international reputation for
research specialising in screening for ovarian cancer and has been awarded a
10 year grant from the MRC to undertake the United Kingdom Collaborative
Trial of Ovarian Cancer Screening (UKCTOCS). We are seeking to appoint a
Senior Statistician to work with the Trial Co-ordinator, based at St.
Bartholomew's Hospital, and the Lead Trial Statistician, based at the MRC
Clinical Trials Unit, in implementing and conducting the trial UKCTOCS. The
post-holder will also work with other scientists and clinicians in the unit
developing research proposals and in undertaking studies from initial
concept through to the final report.
You will have a postgraduate qualification in statistics, preferably a PhD,
and experience in clinical trials or epidemiology. You should have a strong
interest in working in close collaboration with clinicians and other
scientists; good communication skills are therefore essential. An active
interest in developing methodological research in collaboration with other
members of the Unit is also essential.
The appointment, which will be for 5 years in the first instance, salary
will include Location Allowance and Central London Supplement payable at
£500 p.a. rising to £1000 p.a. from August 2002. The salary is dependent on
previous experience and negotiable for exceptional candidates.
