Project title: Influence of deprivation and geographical region on
prescribing patterns
Applications are invited for this Health Research Board funded research
project, in partnership with the Department of Pharmacology and
Therapeutics, National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics and Department of
Community Health and General Practice, Trinity College, Dublin. The post
commences on 1st October 2002, and is for 3 years. A summary and application
details are given below.
The impact of social disadvantage on morbidity and mortality is well
established but it may also limit the potential for pharmaco-therapy to
significantly influence morbidity and mortality. Using a number of large
pharmacoepidemiological databases and deprivation indices assigned to each
patient, the fellow will, with a team of biostatisticians, epidemiologists
and clinicians, explore how deprivation impacts on access to best evidence
based therapy.
Applications are invited from suitable candidates with a PhD in either
pharmacy, pharmacology, health services research, or
statistics/epidemiology, with an interest in working in the area of
pharmacoepidemiology. Starting salary EUR30,000 per annum.
