Dear allstaters,
Good day! I hope sampling experts would take time to help me, please,
either by referring to a book or website or by directly commenting. I have
books of Kish, Cochran, Lohr and some manuals but as far as I can
understand from my readings, I have not read a case like this.
My question is about replicated sampling with replacement for two stage
stratified survey design. Suppose you have to take a sample of primary
units, n = 20 from three strata with each strata having these sizes (N1 =
50, N2 = 42, N3 = 1) and you need to take 4 replicates without replacement.
How do we treat a stratum with only one sampling unit, assuming that this
one unit is really very different from the rest of the units in other
stratum and cannot be combined with the rest?
In sampling with replacement, it is possible that one primary sampling unit
(psu) be included in at least one replicate. How do we draw secondary
sampling units from this psu?
Thanks a lot in advance!
