Hi,
I've got a bit of a puzzler that I wondered if anyone could help me out
with.
I have the situation where a number of animals have been screened (at one
time point each) to determine whether or not they have a particular
condition. Because of various reasons, the animals were not all screened
at the same time - the animals had to reach a certain age before they were
screened (but weren't all screened at the same age!), it's not a quick
test to perform and so it wasn't practical to screen at the same time, the
animals weren't all available at the same time etc etc
The screenings took place over a period of about 2.5years or thereabouts.
The percentage of animals affected isn't a prevalence as we aren't talking
about a given point in time but it isn't an incidence either as we didn't
follow the animals over a given period of time and record incidents of the
condition, we only screened at particular time points.
I'm struggling to find the right terminology to talk about the percentage
of animals with the condition - does anyone have any suggestions? It may
be that there isn't a clever way and the only way to do it is to talk
about the percentage of animals with the condition over the 2.5 year
screening period?
Many thanks for your help. I hope the description of my problem is
clear......I'll summarise replies to the list!
JOY
