NERC and EPSRC PhD Studentships
The Department of Statistics invites applications for two fully funded
PhD studentships. Each studentship will be for three years and will
cover fees and maintenance. The first of these has an enhanced
maintenance of 12,000 pounds per year, the second is at the standard
EPSRC rate.
Spatial-temporal modelling for climate and environmental forecasting
Supervisor: Prof Kanti Mardia (joint with the Leeds Environment Centre)
Statistical imaging for industrial process control & reliability assessment
Supervisor: Dr Robert Aykroyd (joint with the Dept of Mining & Mineral Eng)
There is also the possibility of an EPSRC Pool award for research in
any other area of statistics and probability, such as approximations
and limit theorems, image and shape analysis, branching random walks,
data mining and stochastic differential equations.

Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, at least an upper second
class honours degree (or equivalent) in mathematics, statistics or
related subject.
Please note that standard NERC/EPSRC regulations apply to these
studentships.
