A Data Manager is required to join a team of researchers within the
Department of Public Health Medicine who are working on a large study to
determine the causes of asthma in adults. Information collected from more
than 10000 people in more than 20 research centres in Europe and elsewhere
is being collated and data files need to be checked for accuracy and linked
as appropriate.
The post is suitable for a person wanting to obtain computing or data
management experience in a research environment. The ability to work
quickly but carefully with attention to detail and knowledge of a database
program are essential. Previous experience of data checking or a similar
clerical task is desirable.
Applicant should have a first degree or equivalent preferably in
epidemiology, statistics, mathematics or computing and/or a health related
field. Familiarity with Word and spreadsheets is required. Consideration
will be given to applicants who may not meet the educational criteria but
who have relevant experience.
Salary is in the range £14,356 - £16,141 plus £2,134 London Weighting per
