"Queue Audit and Some Tangents"
Dr John Preater
Mathematics Department, Keele University
This talk is about appointment queues for health care clinics.
Traditional queueing theory has sought to answer `What If?' questions
about such systems. In contrast, queue audit is concerned with `So
What?' questions. Some of the issues involved in queue audit will be
addressed during a leisurely amble around some waiting time data for
urgent referrals to a Midlands dermatology clinic. The promised
tangents range from a Christmas cracker queueing joke to asymptotic
results for a simple model describing the booking of appointments for
busy people.
All welcome!!
