Hi,
I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem I have. I am a
complete novice in statistics. Here's what I am trying to do.
There are two factors representing the complexity of a software program.
They are McCabe cyclomatic complexity and Halstead Volume. There is a third
factor called "Maintainability Index" (MI) which is an empirical formula.
This combines the McCabe, Halstead and lines of code.
I analyzed programs from a system to calculate these factors.
We defined yet another factor called the "Life Factor" which is a
collective representation of number of unstructured statements in a
programs.
We are looking for ways to incorporate this factor in the MI equation. Can
someone help me derive the formula ?
Thanks
Sujit
P.S. the formula for MI is
MI = 171 - 5.2*Ln(Halstead) - 0.23*McCabe - 16.2*Ln(LOC)
