The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) is a
non-departmental public body responsible for allocating nearly £4 billion
each year to universities and colleges in England in support of teaching and
research. We are situated in Bristol.
The Analytical Services Group (ASG) provides professional advice and
specialised services to the HEFCE and other interested bodies. The group is
involved in a range of challenging and interesting projects of national and
international significance. These include developing, maintaining and
operating the Council's funding models and processes; developing performance
indicators; and providing quantitative analysis, research and advice on
issues affecting higher education in England.
Vacancies have arisen in the following work areas: funding and
finance of universities and colleges and the distribution of funds for
hardship and other student support. However, applicants are likely to become
involved in other areas of ASG's work.
Applicants should have at least a good first degree with a
significant mathematical content and possess an aptitude for quantitative
analysis and statistical programming. Experience of SAS and other relevant
software would be desirable but not essential as full training will be
provided.
