JOB OPPORTUNITY IN THE INTERNATIONALLY RATED
INSTITUTE OF APPLIED HEALTH SCIENCES
Due to the growing international success of the Institute of Applied Health
Sciences, an opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified Statistician to
join our team.
This post has a broad remit with significant personal development
opportunities. Based in the Department of General Practice and Primary Care,
and working alongside other statisticians within the Institute, the post
holder will be expected to develop their own research portfolio, contribute
to the design and conduct of new research projects, and provide a
consultancy service for other researchers. To fulfil this role applicants
should have experience in research and a track record in publication.
In the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise the University scored an excellent
5 in unit of assessment 2, "Community-based Clinical Subjects". Sub-panels
also acknowledged Epidemiology, Public Health Research, Health Services
Research and Primary Care as rated 5.
Current areas of research in the department include drug utilisation and
medicines management, primary care epidemiology, delivery of care and health
and location. Work is focused in the clinical areas of respiratory and
cardiovascular disease, reproductive health, cancer and chronic pain.
