MRC Environmental Epidemiology Unit, Southampton
PART-TIME STATISTICIAN
15 Hours Per Week
An opportunity now exists for a part-time statistician to join a team at
the Medical Research Council Environmental Epidemiology Unit in Southampton
(under the directorship of Professor D J P Barker). The unit carries out
studies of (i) the fetal origins of cardiovascular and other diseases (ii)
fetal growth and non-insulin dependent diabetes (iii) osteoporosis (iv)
maternal nutrition (v) occupational and environmental causes of disease.
The unit is associated with the University of Southampton and uses their
computing services.
You should possess a MSc in statistics or equivalent postgraduate
qualification. You will be involved with the analysis of large and complex
datasets using appropriate statistical techniques using Stata statistical
software. The post will particularly involve the analysis of
phenotype-genotype relationships in DNA-banks that have been established as
part of the unit's cohort studies.
The post is initially for a fixed term period of six months with a possible
extension.

Salary in the range of £17,451 - £19,486 per annum, pro rata for part-time
appointment, on the Other Related Scale according to qualifications and
experience.
