Ph.D Studentship in Medical Statistics
Statistical Methods in Clinical Trial Design
Applications are invited for a three-year studentship concerning
Statistical Methods in Clinical Trial Design, funded by AstraZeneca
Pharmaceuticals. Full tuition fees and research expenses will be a
covered, and a stipend starting at £10700 p.a. will be available for
UK and EU candidates. A start date of 1 October 2002 is anticipated.
Projects concerning the following topics are available:
Designs for phase II clinical trials that use dose-response information
Statistical issues in determining the effect of a new
treatment from active-control trials
Stopping recruitment of patients to sequential trials of survival data
Other topics of mutual interest within this research area could be
considered.
Candidates should have obtained, or expect to obtain a first or upper
second class degree in mathematics or statistics (or an equivalent
qualification).
