JOB OPPORTUNITY: RESEARCH FELLOW, DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL STATISTICS,
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHAMPTON
Department of Health (DoH)/Teenage Pregnancy Unit (TPU) - funded project on
the statistical analysis of the consequences of teenage parenthood on
mothers, fathers and children.
A position for a Research Fellow is available on a DoH/TPU-funded research
project based in the Department of Social Statistics, University of
Southampton. The project aims to investigate the medium to long-term
consequences for mothers, fathers and children of teenage parenthood. Data
from a variety of sources, including the 1970 British Birth Cohort, and the
Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children will be analysed using a
variety of multivariate techniques.
The multi-disciplinary nature of the research is reflected in the make-up
of the research team which includes staff from the Department of
Psychology, University of Southampton.
The Research Fellow will need to have a PhD as a minimum requirement with
the ability to carry out advanced statistical modelling e.g. path analysis
and graphical modelling. Ideally the Research Fellow should have some
experience of managing and analysing large and complex data sets.
The post is available for immediate start and will terminate at the end of
the project on 31 March 2004. The level of the appointment will at the
Research Grade 1A, according to qualifications and experience on the
university salary scale ranging from £19,486 to £25,203.
