POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN GENETIC EPIDEMIOLOGY
(Statistical Methods for Disease Gene Mapping)
This exciting new post, funded by the Wellcome Trust and based in the
Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, involves the development
of new statistical methods for finding genes involved in causing
diseases. The work is motivated by research conducted within Imperial
College Faculty of Medicine into the autoimmune disorder systemic
lupus erythematosus, but the methods developed are expected to be more
generally applicable.
Candidates should have a PhD in statistics or a related quantitative
subject, or equivalent research experience. Training in genetics is
not required, although a keen interest in understanding the genetical
processes underlying the statistical modelling is essential. The
successful applicant will join a lively research group with an
international reputation in Biostatistics and Statistical Genetics.
