Hi,
I found this statement in:
Aday, L. A. (1996). Designing and conducting health surveys a comprehensive
guide. (2nd ed ed.) San Francisco, CA: Jossey-Bass Publishers.
"The inter-rater reliability between survey interviewers is rarely computed"
(pp. 55)
It has been justified by:
"Different interviewers do not usually go back to ask respondents the same
questions and groups of respondents interviewed by different interviewers
are not always comparable. Especially in personal interview surveys,
interviewers may be assigned to different areas of a city or region that
differ a great deal compositionally. Survey designers should, however,
consider what might give rise to random variation in Interviewers'
performance before starting the study arid standardize the training and
field procedures to reduce these sources of variation as much as possible"
Is this agreed upon (that inter-rater reliability between survey
interviewers is rarely computed)?
Any other references supporting this statement?
Thanks
