Hi,
I got stuck with my basic knowledge of statistics, and I was
wondering if someone could give me a hand.
I have performed a little study in which I asked participants to choose
one of three different options to a question. Let's say the question was
something like "which colour do you prefer" and the possible replies were
"red" "blue" "green", them being independent, etc.
What I want to test is whether there is a preference for colour "red", but
I'm not sure how to do it. I looked at the chi-square 'goodness of fit'
test, but it doesn't seem to be appropriate.
This test, as I understand it, would help me to tell whether the sample is
equally distributed amongst the three colours or not. But if we had
something like Red:0 Blue:0 Green:100, the result of the test is obviously
statistically significant, but it doesn't tell me anything about
preference for the Red colour.
Any help on how I should proceed to test preference for a given colour?
Thanks a lot,
