READER/PROFESSOR OF STATISTICS
Applications are invited for either a Readership or a Chair of
Statistics,
tenable from 1 September 2002 in the Department of Statistical Science.
Applicants should have an outstanding research record in any area of
Statistical Science, either complementing or contributing to existing
departmental strengths. Applicants for a Chair appointment should have
an excellent record of leadership in research.
The Department is broad-based, with research strengths spanning many
areas
within Applied Probability and Statistics. As well as theoretical and
methodological
areas, these cover applications in a range of disciplines, including
chemometrics,
epidemics, finance, forensic science, geology, hydrology, medicine and
pharmaceuticals.
The person appointed to the Readership/Chair will be expected to carry
out and coordinate
research, and to contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and
postgraduate courses in
general statistical theory and its applications for the Department.
Development of
collaborative research programmes with other UCL Departments is
encouraged.
