Research Associate in Biostatistics (RA1A); Bayesian hierarchical models for
combining individual and group level data.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious post-doc with a PhD in
statistics or a related quantitative subject and who is looking to develop
their
career as an applied statistician within a research environment.
You will join an internationally renowned Biostatistics group within the
Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, which is at the cutting edge
of applications and developments in Bayesian hierarchical modelling, spatial
statistics, statistical epidemiology and statistical genetics. The post
relates to
an ESRC-funded project supervised jointly by Professor Sylvia Richardson
and Dr Nicky Best. The work will involve the development of statistical
models for combining population-based data on health outcomes and
potential risk factors at small-area level with partial information from
sample
surveys on individual-level risk factors and health outcomes, using Bayesian
hierarchical models.
The appointment is available for up to 2.5 years in the first instance on
the
RA1A scale. Starting salary will be in the range £21,620 to £25,275
including
