Hi all,
I have a question about the relationship between Poisson and multinomial
distributions that I hope the list members could have a ready answer to it or give some reference.
The conditional distribution of Poisson variates given their sum is
multinomial. This is discussed in a number of standard texts. My question
is about the probability function of Poisson variates, given their partial
sums S1, S2, etc. Sk, with each Si possibly overlapping with one or more of
the other sums.
Thanks in advance.
