MEDICAL STATISTICIAN/STATISTICAL EPIDEMIOLOGIST

Academic-related research staff grade 1B: Salary: £17,451 - £22,299
This is a full-time post in the Stroke Prevention Research Unit
(www.stroke.ox.ac.uk) within the University Department of Clinical
Neurology. Staff include Dr Peter Rothwell (Director), two medical
statisticians (including this post), a computer programmer, five clinical
research fellows, a research nurse and an administrator. This post is
funded by the Medical Research Council for three years in the first
instance. Candidates should have formal training in statistics and/or
epidemiology. Previous relevant work experience would be an advantage, but
is not essential. The work will involve analyses of large international
collaborative clinical databases, statistical support for a large
community-based incidence study of vascular disease, and several systematic
reviews. An interest in methodological research and experience in writing
research papers would be an advantage. There will be considerable
opportunity to present and publish research results.
