International Centre for Health and Society Seminar
23 January 2002, 5pm
A panel discussion on
'Stress and the Heart'
Chaired by
Professor Sir Michael Marmot
Director, International Centre for Health & Society, UCL
Abstract
Is there evidence that psychosocial factors can contribute to heart
disease? Until recently such a theory might have seemed
unsubstantiated with little scientific basis. A panel, chaired by
Professor Sir Michael Marmot, will review evidence from the existing
research into the relationship between psychosocial stressors and
heart disease and draw conclusions.
Drinks will follow the discussion at 6pm to celebrate the launch of
‘Stress and the Heart’ edited by Stephen Stansfeld and Michael G
Marmot, BMJ Books, 2002.
