RESEARCH FELLOW - STATISTICS(2): EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS
Applications are invited for this post in the MRC Health Services
Collaboration (HSRC), Department of Social Medicine, University of
Bristol. The Department is a leading centre for epidemiology and
health services research in the UK, and was one of only three to be
awarded the highest 5* grade in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise.
The successful applicant will join a group developing new approaches to
statistical evidence synthesis and medical decision making, and
applying them to a range of issues in public health and medicine. This
is a new area involving statistical estimation of complex models using
disparate items of information, assessment of consistency between
sources of data, and the use of statistical models in medical
decision-making and research prioritisation.
This is a 3-year appointment Research Fellow level (MRC Band 4, salary
range £23,373 - £ 30,488), with the possibility of renewal for a
further 3 years. The level of the appointment and starting salary will
depend on qualifications and experience. The post is available
immediately.
Applicants should have postgraduate qualifications in statistics or
mathematics. Experience or knowledge of any of the following would be
an advantage: meta-analysis, systematic review; Bayesian methods and
theory, epidemiology and public health, economic evaluation, decision
analysis, S-Plus programming, medical or biological applications.
